Ynglŷn â Gwerthuso ac Ymchwil
Mae gweithgaredd gwerthuso ac ymchwil y Gronfa Loteri Fawr ar draws y DU yn cefnogi'r diben canlynol:
‘Mae’r Gronfa Loteri Fawr yn ymgymryd â gwerthuso ac ymchwil i'w galluogi i wella effeithiau a phrosesau ariannu; i hyrwyddo rhannu dysgu o'r fath yn ehangach er mwyn gwella arfer a dylanwadu ar bolisi; ac i gefnogi atebolrwydd cyhoeddus’.
Trwy ddefnyddio gwerthuso ac ymchwil, rydym yn gallu deall yr effaith yr ydym yn ei gael ar sawl lefel a gwella ansawdd ac effeithiolrwydd ein swyddogaeth o ddyfarnu grantiau. Mae gweithgaredd gwerthuso ac ymchwil yn cyfrannu at broses o ddysgu mewnol a datblygiad polisi. Mae hefyd yn ein galluogi i gyfrannu at drafodaethau ehangach y tu hwnt i'r sefydliad, gan gynnig tystiolaeth o'r hyn a ariannwyd gennym i lywio datblygiad polisi a meddwl newydd, ac i gynorthwyo'r rhai yn y maes i wneud yr hyn y maent yn ei wneud yn well. Mae'n ein helpu i arddangos atebolrwydd i randdeiliaid y sefydliad ac i'r cyhoedd. Mae ein gweithgaredd gwerthuso ac ymchwil felly yn gwasanaethu ystod o ddibenion a chynulleidfaoedd.
Mae astudiaethau gwerthuso ac ymchwil yn cael eu rhoi allan ar gontract i arbenigwyr allanol. Ein rôl yw adnabod a chwmpasu gofynion ymchwil a gwerthuso; comisiynu darnau o waith a rheoli gwaith ymgynghorwyr; dosbarthu casgliadau terfynol a rhannol i gynulleidfaoedd mewnol ac allanol; a hyrwyddo'r defnydd a wneir o'r casgliadau.
Nodwyd ein dull gweithredu gwerthuso ac ymchwil yn ein strategaeth gwerthuso, ymchwil a dysgu, ar gyfer y cyfnod 2005-09.
Mae'r strategaeth yn pennu ffyrdd o ddefnyddio gwerthuso ac ymchwil i hwyluso dysgu o fewn a thu allan i’r Gronfa Loteri Fawr. Trwy bwysleisio dibenion a chynulleidfaoedd trwy gydol cyfnod yr astudiaethau gwerthuso ac ymchwil, rydym yn disgwyl gweld mwy o ddefnydd o'r casgliadau drwyddi draw.
We see evaluation as a key way of making ourselves accountable and contributing to learning that improves practice and influences policy. We use a variety of approaches to explore the impact of our funding, including:
- evaluating progress against our high-level themes and outcomes
- exploring common themes or patterns across a number of programmes
- evaluating our own funding processes
- supporting project self-evaluation.

Evaluators
Our evaluations are contracted to external organisations to ensure that they are objective and are undertaken by people with specialised skills and knowledge. See our Tenders page for current opportunities.
Please note that the Big Lottery Fund also funds social and medical research through a separate Research programme.
