Greater London is made up of 32 boroughs and the City of London, and covers an area of 1,572 sq km. Geographically it is the smallest of the English regions but has the largest population, with 7.43 million inhabitants almost 15% of the population of England.
London is the most ethnically diverse city in the world with 40 per cent of its population coming from ethnic groups; more than 300 languages are spoken and some 14 different religions practised.
Areas of wealth lie alongside areas of deprivation and it’s not surprising that three of the five most deprived English boroughs are in London.
The London regional team holds regular meetings with funding advisers, key voluntary sector organisations, and regional and local government. We also work with statutory agencies like helper agencies, regional Lottery forums and other funders.
